Planning permission is normally required to erect a new building, make alterations to an existing building, or change the use of a building or land.
Wyre's Development Control Team are responsible for processing all applications for planning permission and for the enforcement of any subsequent decisions taken.

Our Performance
National targets are set for the determination of planning applications. These targets are referred to as Best Value Performance Indicators ( B.V.P.I. ).
The B.V.P.I.'s for for the determination of planning applications are as follows:
- 60% of major residential, industrial and commercial applications should be determined in 13 weeks or less.
- 65% of minor residential, industrial and commercial applications should be determined in 8 weeks or less.
- 80% of all other applications should be determined within 8 weeks.
In the year 2006 / 2007 we dealt with:
- 94% of major residential, industrial and commercial applications within 13 weeks.
- 90% of minor residential, industrial and commercial applications within 8 weeks.
- 95% of all other applications including householder within 8 weeks.
