Nicky Nook
At a height of 215 metres 'Nicky Nook' is one of the most popular and well known landmarks in Wyre. Heather, bilberry, lichens, mosses, rushes, bracken and rough grass make up this rich mosaic of upland heathland. Skylark, Curlew, Kestrels and Lapwings are some of the birds which can be seen.
Its sunny southern slopes are rich in insect life such as grasshoppers and tiger beetles.
Nicky Nook lies on the western edge of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Nicky Nook is a small hill overlooking the surrounding countryside giving fine views of the Grizedale Valley and North West Water reservoirs at Barnacre.
This location is encountered on The Priory Scorton Circular Walk.
