Wyre Borough Council is committed to supporting the Wyre in Bloom, North West in Bloom and Britain in Bloom initiatives.

The 'in Bloom' programme encourages public involvement whilst improving the local area and many volunteers spend their time and expertise making their local environment a better place to live.

All of these initiatives work towards council targets which are measured as national performance indicators of success.

How it works in Wyre

The council provide financial and practical support to the scheme. There is an annually set budget for additional planting or projects, which is shared between the Participating Areas. A large team of grounds staff are also assigned to keep the borough clean, green and attractive.

Each area has local representatives who join to form the Wyre in Bloom Steering Committee. They are responsible for organising the local Community in Bloom Competition, raising local awareness and recruiting local volunteers.

The Steering Committee meets with council officers several times a year to discuss current issues, budgetary concerns, promotion and marketing and new initiatives.

The Committee are always pleased to take in new members who may wish to represent other parts of the borough and participate in future Wyre in Bloom initiatives.
