Local Development Framework
With the commencement of the new Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (Office of Public Sector Information), the old-style system of district local plans and county structure plans was replaced with a new planning system of
- revised National Planning Guidelines (Communities and Local Government)
- a Regional Spatial Strategy (North West Regional Assembly) and
- Local Development Framework (LDF), for Wyre.
The Act and its associated Town and Country Planning (England) Regulations 2004 (Office of Public Sector Information) provide changeover arrangements from the old-style Wyre Borough Local Plan to the new LDF planning system.
Whereas the Adopted Local Plan for Wyre (and also the Wyre Local Plan 1st Deposit Draft - Local Plan Review) was a single document with an accompanying Proposals map, the new LDF for Wyre is considered as a portfolio of separate planning documents.
This allows for a greater degree of flexibility of planning policy direction.
