How to become a Countryside Volunteer in Wyre
If you have some spare time at weekends and you enjoy spending time in Wyre's coast and countryside - why not join the Wyre Countryside Service as a Volunteer Countryside Ranger.
Volunteering Opportunities include:
- Become a Volunteer Countryside Ranger and help to look after Wyre's varied coast and countryside.
- Join our work parties as a Practical Volunteer and help to look after Wyre's coast and countryside.
- Interested in the coast? Become a Waterfront Volunteer
- Help us look after miles of Circular Walks, become a Public Footpath Volunteer.
- Become an Environmental Education Volunteer and work with schools and colleges helping young people discover and understand Wyre's natural environment.
- Become a Guided Walk Leader and help others understand and enjoy Wyre's coast and countryside.
- Become a Health Walk Leader and help participants of the Walkin' Wyre scheme.
- Become a Countryside Visitor Assistant and help those visiting our Wyre Estuary Country Park .
- Join or start your own local conservation group or Friends Group and look after your local countryside.
- Assist with the Wildlife Watch Group or the RSPB Wildlife Explorers and help young people learn about Wyre's wonderful wildlife.

Introduction Sessions
These are held regularly by our Senior Countryside Officer and/or our Health Walks Co-ordinator. The volunteer service, opportunities available and the application process will be explained more fully.
Application Process
Application Form:
You will need to provide the names of 2 referees.
Criminal Records Bureau:
All volunteers are required to apply for CRB clearance.
Medical:
All volunteers are required to have medical clearance. This is dealt with, in confidence, by our Occupational Health provider.
When we have received satisfactory references, Criminal Records Bureau and medical clearance, you will be ready to commence a probationary period. This will vary depending on the volunteer role/s you have chosen.
On completion of a successful probation period, all appointed volunteers will be entitled to training appropriate to their role/s.
