Domestic Abuse Reduction Group
The Domestic Abuse Forum is a subgroup of the Wyre Community Safety Partnership
All references to domestic abuse are based on the standard accepted definition of domestic abuse, as used by the Home Office:
any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.
WCSP are committed to tackling issues surrounding domestic abuse and identified it as a key priority following crime and disorder audits of 2004.
Domestic Abuse accounts for approximately 20% of all incidents of violent crime reported to the police in Wyre. This figure only gives a keyhole view of the physical aspect of such abuse, and further, domestic abuse is still very much an under reported crime.
